About
Katayoun Hosseinrad was born in Tabriz, Iran in 1996, and currently lives in Fort Worth, Texas. She received her B.A. in Persian Painting from Tabriz Islamic Arts University and is currently an MFA candidate at Texas Christian University (TCU). She works primarily in painting. Her practice is influenced by the history of Persian painting and by her childhood memories of growing up near the Eynali Mountains in Tabriz.
Hosseinrad’s work explores themes of belonging, interior space, and identity. Drawing from Persian painting traditions, she reinterprets them through contemporary materials and personal narrative. Her recent paintings focus on the relationship between inside and outside spaces, reflecting on cultural expectations, gendered space, and the experience of displacement. Through muted color palettes and carefully constructed environments, her work creates quiet, emotionally charged scenes that invite reflection on memory and psychological spaces.
