Realm of Absence, 12.26, Nov 26- Dec 7, 2024

My work examines the psychological and spatial tension between interior and exterior environments, using stillness and absence as primary subjects. Through quiet, sparsely furnished spaces, I explore solitude, memory, and the subtle traces of human presence. The rooms are not empty; rather, they hold the residual imprint of someone who has just departed, creating a charged atmosphere between presence and loss.

Rooted in my background in Iranian painting, my practice emphasizes careful composition, surface, and detail. Architectural elements, textiles, and domestic objects are rendered with precision, functioning both as formal structures and as symbolic thresholds between inside and outside, past and present. Negative space plays a central role, allowing absence to operate as an active force within the composition.

A restrained color palette of muted blues, greens, and greys establishes a cohesive and contemplative tone, punctuated by subtle accents of red, orange, or pink that introduce moments of emotional intensity. Through these controlled atmospheres, the work reflects on contemporary experiences of distance and disconnection while inviting viewers into a space of introspection and quiet recognition.
